Call Center Outsourcing Partner for Australian Companies
CrossShore is an outsourcing partner for Australian companies that need to scale customer operations without carrying Australian wage costs, or to cover business hours across a country spanning three time zones and a thin domestic labour market.
Our India delivery centre runs early-morning shifts that open before Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, with Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles obligations addressed at scoping.

Why Australian companies look offshore
Australia has among the highest contact centre labour costs in the developed world. Award wage floors, superannuation obligations, penalty rates for evening and weekend work, and a small domestic labour pool relative to demand combine to make onshore contact centre scaling expensive and slow.
Penalty rates deserve particular attention, because they change the shape of the problem rather than just its size. Extending service hours into evenings or weekends onshore does not cost proportionally more — it costs disproportionately more. That makes extended-hours coverage difficult to justify commercially, even where customers clearly want it. Offshore delivery removes that constraint entirely: our shift patterns treat Australian hours as a standard working day, so extending coverage is a rostering decision rather than a margin decision.
Covering Australian business hours from India
India Standard Time sits 4.5 to 5.5 hours behind AEST depending on daylight saving, and 2.5 hours behind AWST. An Australian business day of 08:00 to 18:00 AEST maps to roughly 03:30 to 13:30 IST — an early-morning shift.
This is the most operationally comfortable of our three market patterns. The overlap with Indian daytime working hours is substantial, meaning full supervisory, QA and technical support presence on the floor throughout, and a working pattern that agents sustain long-term. It also means near-live coordination between your team and ours for most of your day — which matters for programmes needing frequent escalation or collaborative problem-solving.
Australian Privacy Act and data handling
Cross-border disclosure of personal information engages Australian Privacy Principle 8, which requires you to take reasonable steps to ensure an overseas recipient does not breach the APPs. In practice that means contractual commitments and demonstrable controls.
- A written agreement binding CrossShore to APP-equivalent handling standards, executed before data is shared
- Documented access controls, least-privilege permissions, restricted removable media and clean-desk enforcement
- Notifiable Data Breaches scheme support, including defined assessment and notification procedures
- Do Not Call Register screening and Australian consumer law compliance for outbound programmes
- Retention and destruction handling aligned to your record-keeping obligations
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner's APP guidance sets out the obligations that shape how these programmes are structured. Nothing here is legal advice, and your counsel should review the arrangement.

- Back office support — processing and administration where Australian labour cost is hardest to justify
- IT services and dedicated pods — engineering capacity with substantial working-hour overlap with Australian teams
Cost comparison for Australian operations
An Australian contact centre seat carries award-based wages, 11%+ superannuation, leave loading, workers compensation, payroll tax, workspace, technology and supervision — plus penalty rates for any hours outside the standard span. Fully loaded, it is among the most expensive contact centre seats anywhere.
Our all-inclusive monthly seat rate typically lands 60% to 65% below that, and the gap widens further for any programme requiring evening, weekend or public-holiday coverage. Our cost breakdown analysis uses US figures, but the methodology transfers directly — and the Australian gap is wider than the US one.

Getting started
How a Australia programme comes together
Compliance and coverage design happen before recruitment, not after go-live.
- 01Week 1
Scope across time zones
We scope volumes by state and hour, and design a roster that covers AEST through AWST without over-staffing the shoulders.
- 02Week 1–2
Privacy and compliance setup
APP-equivalent handling commitments, Do Not Call Register screening and breach procedures are documented and executed.
- 03Week 2–4
Recruit and train on AU context
Agents are hired against your approved profile and trained on product, systems and Australian market context, then certified before live contact.
- 04Week 4 onward
Go live with real-time overlap
Phased ramp with daily reporting. Because our shift overlaps most of your day, escalations are handled live rather than overnight.
Security & compliance
- ISO 9001
- ISO 27001
- GDPR-ready
